Leo Nels Jorgensen was born October 15,1934 in Oelwein, IA to Carl and Georgia Jorgensen and died May 17, 2012 in Aurora, CO from complications related to a stroke one week earlier. Leo graduated from Oelwein High School in 1953. After attending AIB School of Business, Leo joined his father in semi-truck and trailer sales in Hazleton, IA. In 1955, he married Marilyn Kilcoyne. They raised three children during the course of their 48 year marriage. In 1960, Leo and Marilyn moved to Marshalltown, IA where Leo owned and operated Jorgensen Truck and Trailer Sales and co-owned Sunset Mobile Homes. He was also active in real estate and banking. In the mid 1980's, they moved to Chico, CA where he worked as a boat salesman and real estate broker. They relocated again in the late 1990s to Sun City West, AZ. In both California and Arizona, Leo was actively engaged in senior softball both as a player and as a team manager and was the proud recipient of five World Series titles in senior softball. In 2004, Leo married Joy Spencer, and moved to Surprise, AZ. He continued to be active in senior softball and played golf regularly. Leo and Joy moved to Thornton, CO in early 2012 and enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending time with family. Leo was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Joy; his children- Paddy Fiorino of Houston, TX, Carol Huston of Chico, CA and Mike Jorgensen of Washington, IA; and his twin brother Leon Jorgensen of Oelwein, IA. Leo had six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He also shared a special relationship with Joy's children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society, www.humanesociety.org. A celebration of life is tentatively scheduled for October 2012.
