William Russell Sprague was born to Cleo and Dorothy (Malcom) Sprague in Carroll, Iowa, November 27, 1944. Raised in Glidden, he graduated high school in 1963, lettering in track and football. He then attended and graduated from both Northwest Missouri State College with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and the University of South Dakota with a Masters of Natural Sciences. Bill was a science teacher in the Adair-Casey, Grand Junction, and United Community of Boone schools before joining Iowa Electric and then finally retiring from Mid-American Energy in 2009. He was a member of Rotary International, an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, rock collector, accomplished gardener, and a world traveler.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn; his daughter, Amy; his son, Jamison; his brother, Ken; his sister, Mary Jean; numerous nieces; nephews and grandchildren.
In following Bill's request and wishes, no services or memorial will be held, and the family requests that anyone wishing to celebrate his life to plant a tree or flower in his memory.
