Edith L. Rocarek, 88, Formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday November 1, 2012 in Mercy Hospice-Johnston. Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where visitation will be on Sunday from 3 to7 p.m. Cedar Memorial certified Celebrant Julie Freese will officiate. Burial: Czech National Cemetery.
Survivors include her brother, Kenneth W. Johnson of Des Moines (also formerly of Cedar Rapids) nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Rocarek, her parents, a brother, Bernard Johnson, four sisters, Selma Johnson, Maxine Whitney, Iona Vecchi and Marian Olver.
Edith was born June 8, 1924 in Linn County, Iowa, the daughter of Vere and Edna Kilts Johnson. She married Charles L. Rocarek on September 7, 1941 in Cedar Rapids. Edith was a graduate of Franklin High School. She worked for the Quaker Oats Company in Cedar Rapids, retiring after 39 years of service. She was a member of Moose Club, Local P-3 Retirees INC and a champion bowler for many years.
