Theodore Gene Bever, 87, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, 12, 2012, at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 13, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery, West Des Moines.
Theodore was born May 21, 1925, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, the son of Herchul and Mary Pauline Hartsaw Bever. His family moved to Florida and graduated in 1943 from St. Petersburg High School in Florida and served in the south pacific in the US Army Air Force 509th wing from 1944 to 1946 and later the Korean Conflict from 1949 to 1952. He met Margaret Scoville in Florida and returned to Des Moines, Iowa where they were married June 16, 1951. Theodore worked as a sheet metal worker, Local 45, for over 30 years.
Theodore coached his sons' baseball teams, enjoyed boating, supporting his sons in their off road racing endeavors and loved spending time with his family.
Theodore is survived by his wife, Margaret; three children, Ted (Liliana) Bever II, Larry (Sherilyn) Bever and Katherine Hubert; two grandchildren, Daniel Hubert, 22 and Kaitlin Hubert, 20; three sisters, Frances Gunsallus, Mildred "Cracker" Holton and Margaret "Monk" Sellers and 15 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mary Boineau.
