Timothy "Tim" Tingwald
My father, Tim Tingwald, was truly an amazing man. He was born in 1952 in Des Moines and passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Solvey House in Duluth, MN on December 28, 2012. Everyone who met him was touched in some way by his kind soul. Those who knew my father would call him a devoted outdoorsman. He loved fishing with his family and friends and hunting with his son,Tyler.
My father was a hard worker with more than 30 years at John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa, making many life long friends along the way. In his free time he was always planning his next project at our beloved family cabin which he visited as much as possible. He was also a die hard Hawkeye fan enjoying season tickets to Iowa football as well as watching them on TV. He was always looking for a reason to say "Go Hawks!" whenever he could.
My father's mission, once diagnosed with FALS (Familial Amyotropic Lateral Sclerosis) in 2010 at the age of 58, was to find a cure. He was a determined man participating in many clinical trials throughout the United States to help further research. He was able to fulfill one of his final wishes by donating his body to ALS research.
Tim Tingwald is survived by his mother Jeanne Tingwald of Perry, IA, his wife and high school sweetheart of 39 years Jean Tingwald also from Perry, IA, two children, Jessica Tingwald from Longmont, CO and Tyler Tingwald from Grand Forks, ND and first cousins Gary Tingwald, Vicki Gummert, Ronald Tingwald and Dennis Tingwald.
Dad, may you rest in peace.
We will miss you but never forget you.
