Thomas Ruan Obituary
Des Moines
Thomas Heyliger Ruan, 55, passed away on January 30, 2013. He was born on April 15, 1957 to Elizabeth (Adams) and John Ruan. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and then attended Iowa State University. After college he worked for Iowa Import/Export and for Des Moines Flying Service. He then became an entrepreneur in the food and beverage area.
Tom enjoyed golf and spectator sports including the Dolphins, Iowa and Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Ruan; sons, Thomas Adam Ruan (fiancé, Carolyn Cameron) and Phillip Arthur Ruan (Desiree); his grandchildren, Drake and Penelopi Ruan; and brother, John Ruan, III (Janis). Tom was preceded in death by his father, John Ruan, and his sister, Elizabeth Jane Fletcher.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 2600 72nd St., Ste #0, Urbandale, IA 50322. Services are private but condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Tomorrow you will have been gone a year. I remember the day in such vivid detail. Tomorrow will be difficult for me.

I'll miss TR and his shenanigans at his steakhouse. Whenever Tom showed up, you knew the night was going to be great. Miss ya, bud. I know you're eating those amazing steaks you served in the sky. Whether you knew it or not, you did a lot of things for me that changed my life. Thank you, Tom.

I miss you every day. I know you are the one responsible for the rubber bands I keep finding. Now I have both you AND God shooting them at me. Please, don't stop. I am happy to provide amusement for the two of you. I find being shot with rubber bands comforting. Much love....
