Booneville

Dora Allen, 95, passed away February 1, 2013, at Sunnybrook of Adel. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, at the Booneville United Methodist Church. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 5, at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, where family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m.

Dora was born June 10, 1917, to Reese and Myrtle (Smith) Harvey on a farm near Woodward, but lived in Berkley as a child. She and her identical twin sister, Dorothy, were constant companions. Dora married Francis L. (Sam) Allen on March 22, 1937, and they lived their entire life at Booneville. To this union one daughter, Vicki Jean, was born. Dora worked on the farm in their early married years and later did housekeeping for the Harvey Ingham family and Howard Johnson's Motel. Through the years, Dora was active in her church, Larkin Club, Rebecca Lodge, and the Booneville Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, crafts and quilting.

Dora is survived by daughter, Vicki (Jim) Kress; granddaughter, Jennifer (Todd) Weber, and grandson, Jeff (Holly) Kress; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kristen and Quinn Weber, and Delaney, Carson and Kennedy Kress; two sisters-in-law, Gert Harvey and Hazel Harvey; and many nieces and nephews.

Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Sam; her parents; sister, Hazel Manning, twin sister, Dorothy Allen, and brothers, Budd, Lloyd, Tom, Fred, Duke, Bob; and great-grandson, Jake Kress.
