Laurence was employed for 35 years at the John Deere Des Moines Works and was a member of the United Auto Workers, Local 450. He retired in 1983 but continued to be active in the family farm near Chariton, with his brother, Richard.

He is survived by his three sons; Richard (Stephanie) Jones of Ankeny, Bill (Wadene) Jones of Des Moines, and Alan (Denise) Jones of Ankeny, eight grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, his brother Richard (Ruth) Jones of Ankeny, several nieces and nephews and other extended relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marjorie, and his wife of 56 years, Lois.

The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Sunny View and Mercy Hospice for the excellent care and attention Laurence received during his brief illness, and his special neighbors and friends for all their help and kindness shown over the years.
