Dorothy Snyder, 77, of Winterset, died on April 21, 2013, at home after a long battle with cancer.
In honor of Dorothy's wishes she has been cremated.
A graveside service for Dorothy and her husband, John, will be held at the Winterset Cemetery on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m.
A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Snyder Towing shop located at 113 East Court Avenue, Winterset, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Dorothy Irene Snyder was born at Des Moines, Iowa, on April 26, 1935, the daughter of Doris Pauline Wells Keating and Ray E. Keating.
Dorothy attended Harrison #4 country school in Adair County until the family moved to Madison County in 1948. She attended Scott Center School and Winterset High School, graduating with the Class of 1953.
Her marriage to John Edward Snyder was on November 22, 1953, in Clarksville, Tennessee. Dorothy was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the operation of Snyder Towing.
She is survived by her children, Rick Snyder, Edward Snyder (wife Cherita), Julie McKinney (husband Rich) and Susan Groom (husband Chris); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her brother, William Keating (wife Shirley) of Peru; sisters-in-law, JoAnne Walker (husband Gary) of Winterset, and Sherri Alexander (husband John) of Centennial, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on December 24, 2012, her parents and a grandson, Jeremy Snyder.
