Robert J. "Bud" Bowers

Madrid

Robert Joseph "Bud" Bowers, 78, passed from this life on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at the Madrid Home, surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Monday, May 13, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Madrid. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, north of Madrid.

Bud was born on January 25, 1935 in Madrid, IA, to Charles William and Edna Emma (Fees) Bowers. He attended Madrid High School. Bud was an army veteran during the Korean Conflict. He married Ruth Marie Frisk on June 2, 1958 in Ankeny, IA, and to this union, four children were born. Bud was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Madrid Masonic Star Lodge 115 AF & AM and Order of the Eastern Star Polk City Chapter 361. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed fishing. Bud will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 55 years, Ruth Bowers of Madrid; three daughters, Pam (Steve) Kinnard and Judy (Dennis Young) Bowers both of Madrid and Carla (Kenny) Graham of Sheldahl, IA; sister, Leola Bowers of Madrid; four brothers, Charles (Sharon) Bowers of Huxley, IA, Dale Bowers of San Angelo, TX, Ken (Janelle) Bowers of Longmont, CO and Dennis Bowers of Madrid; six grandchildren, Heather (Ben) Murry, Dave Gravert, Amy (Will) Miller, Ashley Young, Kendra Graham and Paige Graham; and eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Brooklyn Murry, Tanner, Tyler, Trenton, Tristen and Taryn Miller, and Jaxon Miller. Bud was preceded into eternal life by his parents; son, Michael Wayne Bowers; and one brother, George Bowers.

The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, at Iles Funeral Homes, Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Chapel in Madrid.
