Gerald James "Skip" Cline, 89, was born on February 24, 1924 in rural Casey, IA to James Floyd and Florence Mildred (McCabe). Skip passed away June 10, 2013 at the Guthrie County Hospital.
He attended school through 8th grade and farmed for 38 years. He married Lula (Sloss). Skip met Rosalie Jensen in 1989 and they have been together ever since. He loved to play cards with friends, riding his bike every day and dancing. Skip enjoyed traveling to TX with Rose every year since 1999 as well as taking trips to Branson, MO. Another one of his favorite pastimes was taking the Amtrak train to visit his son Marvin and wife Ilene in CA.
Skip lived a long life built on the foundation of integrity and hard work. His firm handshake was his word and his bond. A generous man, Skip always remembered his children and grandchildren by sending a birthday card, Christmas card, and gifts on time every year. A gesture his family will always remember.
Skip was a long time member at First Christian church, Eagles in Des Moines, Lions Club, Guthrie Activity Center, Royal Neighbors of America and served as County Supervisor for twelve years. He is survived by his six children: Charlotte (Ron) Benton of Cumberland, IA; Kenneth Cline, Des Moines, IA; Jeanette (Bill) Sheeder of Guthrie Center, IA; Ed (Jane) Cline of Boone, IA; Keith (Dona) Cline of Des Moines, IA; Marvin (Ilene) Cline of Huntington Beach, CA.
