West Des Moines

Scott Kreger, 62, passed away Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Glen Oaks Alzheimer's Care Facility. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines, IA.

Scott was born in Carroll, IA on April 13, 1951. He grew up in Ft. Dodge and graduated from Ft. Dodge H.S. in 1969. He went on to graduate from the University of Iowa in 1973 with a double major in economics and finance. Scott moved to Tucson, AZ in 1974 where he worked in banking and finance for 17 years. He met Linda Foster in Tucson and they were married there in 1990. They moved to West Des Moines in 1991 where Scott was regional director of wholesale lending for the Principal Financial Group. He stayed with Principal until poor health forced him to retire.

Scott was a member of Valley United Methodist Church and was active in all aspects of church activities. He loved golfing, college basketball, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and coaching youth sports. Scott will be remembered for his sense of humor, gentle spirit, compassion for others, love of family, and his keen intelligence and memory.

Scott is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Ross and daughter, Grace Kreger, both of Iowa City, IA; sister, Carolyn (Steve) Davis of Ft. Dodge, IA; and a niece, Justine Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Edith (Thomas) Kreger.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at McLaren's Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Children and Families of Iowa.

Scott's family would like to thank the staff at Glen Oaks for their excellent love and care.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you Linda and your family and my dear cousin Carolyn. Scott was one of the kindest men I knew, even as a kid we always wanted to hang around him and he never once thought we were too young to play with. He will be sorely missed. May God grant you and your families comfort and peace at this time of sorrow. Turn to Him often. You are in our prayers. Much love, cousin Laura Lee (Pevestorf)Ramirez.

Linda, my thoughts are with you and your kids. I'm sorry I can't attend the funeral but Dave had a stroke last April. I have him at home and don't venture gone for too long at a time. You have been a true inspiration to me and I have thought of you frequently this last year. We all know Scott is in a loving place and may you have comfort in the promises of our Lord.
