Dennis Chalaupa Obituary
Pleasant Hill
Dennis Frank Chalupa 69, passed away on December 28, 2013 at Mercy Hospice Johnston while courageously battling lung cancer.
Denny was born October 6, 1944 in Fairfield, IA the son of LeRoy and Dora Chalupa residents of Pleasant Plain, Ia. He graduated from Fairfield HS, completed his undergraduate studies at Parsons College and graduated from the University of Iowa law school. He served in the Army National Guard unit. Denny was Jasper County district attorney. Since 1971 he was a partner at Brierly Law firm in Newton, Ia (currently Caldwell, Brierly, Chalupa and Nuzum). He became board certified in Civil Trial Advocacy in 2001. He was president of Iowa Trial Lawyers association 2005-2006.
Denny was an active outdoorsman enjoying fishing in Canada, golfing, biking, walking, skiing and tennis.
Denny is preceded in death by his parents and sister Beverly. He is survived by his wife Roberta (Bobbi) Story, son Chad (Somer), daughter Michelle (Scott) Lynch, step son Nate (Sarah) Echelberger, step daughter Nicole (Brad) Cope, and sister Shirley (Keith) Halverson. His heart overflowed with love for his grandchild; Jax and Indy Chalupa; Michael and Madison Lynch; Breck, Ridge, Eve, and Stone Echelberger; Brayson, Baine and Brinley Cope.
A celebration of life will be planned for a future date. Memorials may be made to Denny Chalupa scholarship fund or Mercy Hospice Johnston, Ia.

A good, sincere guy with a fun sense of humor.Denny was a friend and advocate for the less fortunate. A man I was proud to know for many years. The world needs more men like Denny.

I am sorry to hear about Denny's passing. I knew him as a dedicated attorney, an outstanding ITLA president and an all-around great guy. He will be missed but not forgotten by his fellow attorneys.

So sorry for your loss Roberta and family. I didn't know Denny real well but the few times I was around him he was always smiling and so kind. I think he and my dad will make great golfing partners in heaven. Love to all.
