Dana Rose Peterson Chandler, 55, of Boone and formerly of Des Moines, died on March 17, 2014, at her home in Boone. Dana was born January 8, 1959, in Des Moines to Maynard Peterson and Barbara (Nefstead) Peterson. Dana attended S.E. Warren High and received her Associated Degree from DMACC in Boone.
Dana is survived by her mother, Barbara Peterson of Des Moines; her father and step-mother Maynard and MaryLou Peterson of Johnston; two brothers, Warren (Jill) Peterson of Ackworth and Mark (Debra) Peterson of Mystic; a step-brother Richard (Angie) Clark of Des Moines; many nephews and nieces; her special friend Keith Bass of Boone; and her friend and supporter Barb Wishman.
Dana loved animals all her life. In her younger years, she loved her horses and rode as much as she could. She had a special bond with her cat, Baby. She loved going to antique places, garage sales and book sales, looking for those great buys. She enjoyed her old movies, music, and spending time with Keith.
Dana's wishes were to be cremated with no services. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone.
In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial for Genesis Development of Boone.
