Raymond "Andy" Anderson

Des Moines

Ray, 94, passed away on August 1 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7, Wednesday, at Tonini Funeral Home.

Raymond Howard Anderson, son of Oscar and Olga (Skoglund) Anderson, was born March 6, 1920 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, and served in the U.S. Navy. Ray was united in marriage with Madelyn Henriksen on July 3, 1948 in Escanaba, Michigan. Ray repaired televisions for RCA for many years, and was business associates with Traviss Audio and Video. In spare time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling and gardening. Ray was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

He is remembered by his wife of 66 years, Midge; children: Jan (John) Jansen, Tom (Cindy) Anderson, Scott (Mitzie) Anderson, and Carol (John) Crum; grandchildren: Debbie Steenhoek, Travis Anderson, Erika Bohon, Erin Jansen, Trevor Anderson, Amanda Anderson, Kiersten Crum, and Connor Crum; and great-grandchildren, Anaelise Steenhoek and Brayden Steenhoek. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Doug Anderson; granddaughter, Cindy Anderson; and sister, Mary Ried.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Anthony Catholic Church, Cindy Anderson Scholarship Fund at Dallas Center-Grimes, or the .
