Lars will be truly missed and has always been one of my favorite teammates. His "these guys are terrible" speech he gave to us is the best team talk I've ever heard- I've never laughed so hard during a soccer game. I will miss you sir.

Our team from Duluth combined with the Ames Hurricane for several years of the Ancient Rangers tournament. Although we enjoyed the partnership with all the Hurricane players, no one made a stronger impression on us as a player and teammate than Lars. He set the bar for work rate. Unlike many talented players, he was always encouraging of his teammates. Obviously, my association with Lars is limited to the pitch (and an occasional post-game pint) but you learn a lot about the character of a person on the pitch. My sincere condolences to his daughter and wife for your tremendous loss.

I was very sad to hear about Lars. I have many memories from our soccer games in Ames Hurricanes, when I was in Ames. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

I had played both with and against Lars and no matter which way, he was always the hardest working player on the field. Of course I always enjoyed playing with him as it meant that we always had a chance to win. But I also enjoy playing against as he would provide me with the greatest of challenges. He won more of the challenges than I did. I consider myself to be a lucky man to have known Lars and I will take every opportunity possible to celebrate his life and friendship. My deepest sympathies goes out to his wife and daughter and his family in Denmark. As you do, I will miss him forever!

As a Dane removed from Denmark, I always felt a bond with Lars that was only strengthened by his great humor and the camaraderie of the Ames Hurricanes. I will always treasure the memories of our time spent playing pickup, going out for drinks, and a summer league game in particular where Lars absolutely refused to stop scoring.

Lars, I'll miss hearing your fervent halftime talks, your laugh and passionate style of play. Thanks for the memories.

October 9, 2015

I knew Lars only on the soccer fields of Ames. While I only speak for myself here, I imagine that others shared this feeling: when teams were being chosen for a 'pick-up' game, I was always glad when Lars was on our side, and, a bit apprehensive, when he was not. Peace.

The soccer world had lost a great one. I remember all those years we played on soccer field. I will miss you Lars.

I had the honor of playing with and against him and I could tell from the start of the match that he was a gentleman of the game! He really impressed me with his desire and love of the game! We will all miss him! Bill Hoene/Duluth Soccer player.

I started playing soccer with Lars in 2000 just after he moved to Ames. Even after he moved away he still made it back to play in the Iowa Games with the Ames Hurricanes as often as he could and we played our last game together in Minnesota in September. He was a great leader and a good friend. His These guys are terrible team talk before one of our games will live forever in multiple languages on our practice shirts. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Carla and Amelia. Karen and I are very sorry that we will not be able to make it to the funeral but you will be in our thoughts.

I had the pleasure of playing soccer with Lars over his last few years in Ames with the Hurricanes FC, and then visit with him the last two years at an age-group tournament in Minneapolis. He was unfailingly a joy to play with and be around, always positive! He will be missed by all of us who had the privilege of playing with him on the Ames Hurricanes teams. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carla and Amelia. In my last conversation with him, his pride and joy in you both were readily evident.

So saddened by the loss of Lars. I didnt know him very well as he left the Ames Hurricanes before I joined. I had only met him a few times while he played at Iowa Games with us, but never heard anything but positive and encouraging things about him. Through everything I have always heard about him, I feel as if I truly lost a friend. Thinking of Carla and Amelia in this tough time.

I rejoined Electrolux in March 2008 and since then I had the pleasure working with Lars for almost 8 consecutive years until he left for his new job at True Value. Very early it became perfectly clear Lars was not only my boss, but also my friend and mentor.
Great personality, very analytical yet humble person, a very good leader and sales person. I learned so much from him and have always appreciated the business trips and meetings we have done together.
We meet in Malmö (Sweden) end of August this year, Lars was looking very sharp and we had a great time together catching up on life and friendship. It just feels so surrealistic he is gone, and there is not a day I don't think about all the good times we had together. He will be greatly missed, and my thoughts goes to his wife and daughter, may god watch over them.

It is with great sadness that we have heard of Lars passing.

Lars will always be in our thoughts as the happy and positive person he was.

We had great meetings together during Lars time at Electrolux, amazing restaurant and food experiences, good soccer games in Copenhagen with his favorite team and it was an honor to have Lars and Carla at our wedding in Molle in Sweden in June 2012.

Our condolences and thoughts to Carla, Amelia and the rest of Lars family and relatives.

Lars was more than just a colleague, he was a true friend and mentor. I remember meeting Lars for the first time in Stockholm when working at Electrolux. After our first full day of meetings, instead of going to a restaurant for dinner, Lars invited me to his home to meet his wife Carla and daughter Amelia. At that very moment, I knew Lars was more than just a colleague.

Lars always lived life to the fullest and I learned a lot from him in a short period of time. Even after leaving Electrolux we stayed on contact with each other. The last call I had with Lars, was that he was EXTREMELY happy. He was exercising and running frequently, and lost 15 pounds of weight.

Lars you were truly an inspiration and will be missed dearly. Rest in peace my friend.

I am at a loss for words for right as this is such a traggity. I had the pleasure of working with Lars at Electrolux, Lars was a wonderful & down to earth person that had a great passion for life & everything that he did, and it was a sad day when he left Electrolux, to start a new venture in life, I know that the biggest thing in his life that he had passion and love for was first and foremost his family he always lite up when talking about his daughter and wife, he was very proud of them and I hope they know just how much he loved them, and just remember that he is and always will be watching over you, Lars you are a true inspiration and you our gone but you will NEVER be forgotten.

I knew Lars through work for six years and deeply respected him. Our mutual passion for soccer was always a common bond. Most though, I fondly recall the day I got to know Lars best...as the two of us walked the length of the beach in Punta Cana, each on a mission to buy "trinkets" for our wives and children at the stores at the end of the beach. While we bounced ideas for gifts off one another, we each shared perspectives and life stories...Lars was immensely proud of his family! I will miss him. My thoughts are with the Hybel family.
