Robert Donels Obituary
Waterloo
Bob Donels, 78, of Waterloo, died at Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, January 9, 2016, as a result of injuries received in an auto accident.
Robert R. Donels was born January 18, 1937, in Ames, IA, son of Ray and Evelyn Hurlbut Donels. He married Beverly Joan Wilson October 1, 1961, in Newton, Iowa at First Lutheran Church. Bob graduated Ames High School 1956 and Iowa State University with a BA in 1961. He was Senior Planner for Planning and Development in the Waterloo City Planning and Development Office for 13 years until retiring in 1999. He continued to work part time until 2011. Bob was a former elder, deacon, and President of Church Board of Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and past president of Easy Risers Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include: wife Beverly Donels of Waterloo; 2 sons, Bradly (Leslie) Donels of Murphy, TX and Brent (Krista) Donels of Waukee, IA; 3 grandchildren, Eric (Lacey) Donels, Adam and Jane Donels, Jackson and Olivia Donels; 2 step grandchildren, Kellie and Eric Walker; 2 great grandchildren, Meryl and Thomas Donels; and brother, Bill (Sue) Donels of Springfield, IL. Preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4 at Kearns Funeral Service, Kimball Chapel, Waterloo with visitation an hour before the service at the Chapel. Inurnment at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 5 at Palo Alto Cemetery, Newton, IA. Memorials to Central Christian Church, 3475 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo. Condolences may be left at www.LockeFuneralHome.com.
