Howard, Wade "Jack" - Ponder  
Wade "Jack" Howard passed away with a smile on his face Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at the age of 80. Wade requested no services, only a private burial of his ashes at a later date in Parker Memorial Cemetery in Grapevine. Arrangements are under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home, Justin. Born in Grapevine on May 23, 1935, Wade was the son of Wade Howard Sr. and Nell Baker Howard. He lived and worked most of his 80 years in Grapevine, graduating from Grapevine High School in 1953. He married Pat Hall on March 8, 1958. They lived in Irving, San Antonio and Atlanta, Ga., in the early years of their marriage, but Jack (known by everyone in Grapevine) always returned to Grapevine. He once said he needed to see the Grapevine Water Tower to feel at home. Wade loved to travel, give parties in the home in Grapevine he and his wife built in 1966, collect antiques and enjoy life. He was a 40-year member of the National Insulator Association (NIA), a member of American Legion Post 379, Bedford until 2012, and a member of the Runway Theatre in Grapevine for 10 years. Wade had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Grapevine since his youth. Wade served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 before he began his career in trucking. In 1983, he picked up a hammer, strapped a ladder to an old Chrysler and started his own business, Rebuilding by Howard. He loved being his own boss in a successful business until a major stroke in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors: His wife, Pat; children, Jacci Bear of Kerens, Rusty Howard of Justin, James Howard of Ponder; grandchildren, Garret Bear of Kerrville, Lyla Bear of Austin, Sarah Crislip (Nate) of Kerens, Samantha Bear of Seven Points, Katie Baxley of Austin; great-grandchildren; Garret Bear Jr. and Skielee Bear of Oregon, Daniella, Katlin and Jackson Bear of Kerens, Lily Bear of Seven Points and Emily Baxley of Austin; sister, Ann Howard Williamson (Jim) of Richland; and two nieces.

Jorcke, Deirdre Elaine Porche - Fort Worth  
Deirdre Porche Jorcke, 62, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2016. Memorial service: 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8, in Mount Olivet Chapel and following in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Deirdre was born Jan. 21, 1954, in Houma, La., to Ephie and Patricia Porche. She attended Louisiana State University for two years and completed her education at Nicholls State with a degree in political science. She was married to Gary Jorcke in February 1982. They had two children and one stepdaughter. Dee retired from Bank of America. She was an integral part of her beloved sorority chapter, Preceptor Omicron Chi/Xi Pi lota, and the Mid Cities City Council of Beta Sigma Phi, having reached the master degree. She had held every office at least once in both her chapter and city council. "May the Lord watch between me and thee, while we are absent, one from the other." She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors: Daughter, Jennifer and husband, Kenny Wilson, of Dallas; son, Michael and fiancee, Heidi McNeill, of Lynnwood, Wash.; stepdaughter, Rachel Ellinger and her children; granddogs, Clover and Tyson; numerous friends and sorority sisters; and beloved friend and travel companion, Steve Williams.

Kaastad, Merry Ethel Unwin - Fort Worth  
Merry Ethel Unwin Kaastad of Minot, N.D., entered the kingdom of heaven at her residence Sunday morning, Jan. 31, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Kaastad was 89 years old. Celebration of life: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, at her residence. Memorials: Those who wish may send flowers to the residence or make contributions to the Salvation Army or The Tarrant Area Food Bank, in her memory. Tootie, as she was known to family and friends, was the daughter of Alfred and May Parsons Unwin. She met and married Morris Kaastad before moving to Fort Worth where Morris built and operated E.O. Wood Co., Inc., a successful commercial manufacturing company. In 1988, Merry acquired the company and continued to run the business successfully until the day she passed. She enjoyed witty and fun conversation with her family, friends and co-workers. She was a longtime member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Survivors: Merry is survived by her sons, Tim, Todd and Rolf.

Howard Leroy Little Jr., 87, a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood. Howard was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Taunton, Mass. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Fort Worth Carswell Air Force Base in 1952, where he met Lois Jean. He had been a longtime member of West Freeway Church of Christ. Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Lois Jean Pawless Little; son, Terry Dean Little; daughter, Kimberly Jean Dill; grandchildren, Collin Dill, Elaina Dill, Braden Dill and Weston Dill; sister, Norma Barry; brothers, Jackie Little, Hubert Little and Ronald Little; and sister, Noreen Mosher.
