Her daughter remembers her as a loving mother who always encouraged her to pursue her goals and be the best person she could be. She was an incredibly intelligent and talented individual who loved to travel and learn about different cultures, and who was passionate about plants and gardening, earning the esteemed status of Master Gardener. She was an active and dedicated member of Christ Chapel and made many lifelong friends through Women in the Word. The family would like to thank everyone for their support through this difficult time. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Betty Jo, and her brother, Steve Spetman. Survivors: Daughter, Zoe and son-in-law, Yancy Lassiter; her brother, Craig Spetman and sister-in-law, Sue Lay; her sister, Janet; sister-in-law, Debbie; her best friend, Sylvia Wildgen; and many, many other friends and family who loved her very dearly.
