Tracy and myself are very sorry to hear of Barry's passing. We worked with him at TMS for the last 10 years and will miss his warm smile, and good nature. No matter what the weather or circumstances he always had a kind word and smile for me at the North Tunnel. He will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Worden, I still clearly remember when I was a batboy and Barry gave me a ride home from ball practice in his 65 Mustang. That to me in the Beatles '65 era was a dream car. But Barry was such a modest person to me when he was driving it. Barry, like his mother who helped care for me when I was sick at Arlington Memorial, was a person I could never forget - always someone with a warm smile and friendly as anybody I'd ever met. I learned about his death while staying here in Lansing, Michigan, where I am currently on assignment with General Motors from my home plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee (home of Saturn). It was my brother Tommy who forwarded the information to me.

As I read the guest book, I became quite emotional. I was proud that I had the chance to know someone of such character like Barry. He blessed so many of us in so many little, unforgettable, and kind ways. There's a little of Barry that's a part of me that I will always carry on.

God bless you and your family

Glenda, Britney and Brady,

Barry was my best friend! I will always cherish our business and personal relationship and needless to say our loss will take some time to heal. The healing process is made easier because of who Barry was to each of us. A wonderful husband, a role model father, dedicated mentor, powerful leader and a true friend that was ALWAYS there when needed. And did I tell you, Barry was my best friend!

Your family is in our prayers,
Gerard and Debbie

It'd been so many years since our softball days. All those tournaments when the kids were little. (even before Carli was born and she is 21 now!) Charlie and I had such great memories of you both. Even we aren't together anymore but our sweet memories of great times live on in our hearts. I will pray for you and your family. Barry and you were great friends and wonderful people. I wish you peace in your heart and lots of love in the days to come. God Bless and much love and prayers.

Glenda,
Words are small comfort, I know, but you must be proud to know how many people loved Barry for his great enthusiasm, heart, and humor.

William Penn had it right: "Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass, they see face to face, and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal."

God bless you and yours.

Dear Worden Family I was privaleged enough to work under Barry's leadership for the last eight years at TMS's operations department and I am very saddened that I wont see him on a day to day basis anymore. But that is my own greedy way of looking at it, because I know that he is with Jesus on a day to day basis now and what a joy that must be for him. I once told Barry that he must have been the good cop in the good cop bad cop scenario, because he just didnt have it in him to be bad. I will truly miss him dearly, especially when I take the jet truck to Vegas. I'm gonna put twenty bucks on Kenseth to win when I go there next year in his honor. God bless you and your family- James Ferrell-operations-TMS

I met Barry more than 15 years ago. I was impressed by his knowledge of radio systems, but more than that by his wonderful smile and sense of humor. His work with MTUG and APCO paved the way for a lot of folks who were never lucky enought to meet him. I thank God that I was fortunate enough to
have met Barry. Glanda know that you are in the thoughts and prayers of all of us.

To the Worden Family ... we just found out about Barry ... shocked and saddened. Our association with him was thru our business and him needing our services at TMS. He was truly a gentleman and such a great guy!! We think his title at TMS should have been "Director of First Impressions"!!! He was super, super, super!!! May God Bless you Mrs. Worden and the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dearest Family, Barry was your family and he was a friend to many, as were his accomplishments. He was one of God's stewards and I am sure that the door to heaven stood wide open for Barry. I will keep you in my prayers, so that God will comfort you. I went to school with Barry and got to visit with him at our reunion. He still had a smile and a kind word for everyone. God got a wonderful new angel and I am sure Barry is doing some reorgainzing!

Our faith in God's will, will get us through, and may he bless all of you.

When I was a new APD Patrol Officer, I watched how then Sgt. Worden led his Crime Prevention Unit. Barry was enthusiastic, friendly, energetic, professional, and always anxious to help people. I knew I wanted to work for such a man and transferred into the unit at the first opportunity. Barry became a friend, role model and mentor. 25 years later, I still benefit daily from the time spent working for Barry, a great man who will be greatly missed.

Glenda,
It saddens me to hear of Barry's passing. We worked together through both APCO and MTUG, and he was a great friend and leader. I last spoke to him on August 5, 2007 from the MTUG reception in Baltimore and he seemed in good spirits. The world is a better place for him being here. You and your family have our deepest sympathy and prayers.

Glenda--Much as with the recent loss of Jim Willett, I feel as if I have suffered the loss of a brother...I know your pain is unimaginable and there is nothing I can do to ease it except share with you one of my most poignant "Barry" stories which captured who he was and is: Barry was working at the Little Road substation and I was downtown in what was then the HQ--Our then toddler son, John Michael, was going at the time to the day care center next door on Little Rd--Barry calls me casually and gently on the radio and asks if I am in the building (I was not) and could I wander down the hall and over to his office to meet a surprise visitor--I made all sorts of excuses (the drive to Little Rd, my schedule, etc) but Barry was patient but relentless and said it would be worth the drive...Mystified I made the drive and when I arrived John Michael was sitting on Barry's lap--He had wandered away from the daycare center and come looking for me at the nearest police building--Barry's approach kept me from having a complete meltdown on the way and when I arrived...When I look back I can laugh, but I can also imagine the unimaginable that might have happened had Barry not interceded and "managed" this dad's emotions...That was Barry: always a friend, always a point of bright shining light and always there for others regardless...God would bless us all immensely could we have have but a fraction of what Barry gave...You will be in my thoughts and prayers together...Regrettably, a recent return from Iraq and just logistics in general prevent me from getting from Memphis to Mansfield in time...But I hope you can feel the power of my thoughts and prayers...Mike
