Barbara Allgood Lee(1932 - 2014)

Barbara Allgood Lee, 81, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at her residence. Service: 1 p.m. Monday at Arborlawn United Methodist Church. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, her memory may be honored with a gift to Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E. Lancaster Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76103; or Baylor University, Office of University Development, One Bear Place #97026, Waco, Texas 76798-7026. Barbara was born in Shreveport, La., where she graduated Byrd High School, then attended Centenary College of Louisiana for one year before heading to her beloved Baylor University, where she graduated in 1954. Bruce Shulkey, FWISD superintendent, offered her and her best friend a job at Westcliff Elementary, the "best" school in town. There, she taught and often spoke of many wonderful students, some who still remember her uncompromising teaching style, until 1973, when she quit to become a full-time homemaker. She met Oliver in 1954 and they married in 1957. In 2007, family and friends celebrated their 50th anniversary with a fun party at Joe T. Garcia's. Barbara was known far and wide for her candid demeanor, funny quips and fierce friendships. Her love of good grammar, dogs, cars, jewelry and good shoes will always make us remember her fondly. A friend was just heard to say that she's most likely giving St. Peter a piece of her mind about the state of affairs in heaven, right off the bat! Survivors: Her loving husband, Oliver Lee; children, Brian Lee and wife, Judy, of Mount Pleasant, Courtney and husband, Andrew Fisher, of Round Rock; grandchildren, Brian Lee Jr., Lauren Lee, Preston Lee, Chase Fisher.
