Benny J. Perry, 86, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014. Funeral: Was 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Benny was born in Athens, Texas, on Feb. 2, 1927, to Price and Lou Ella Perry. He graduated from North Side High School and later joined the Army
and served during the Korean War
. During the war he served as a communication specialist where he used Morse Code. Benny had two children from a previous marriage, Marvin and Sheila. Benny married his lovely wife, Reba, on May 24, 1980. Benny and Reba shared the passion of traveling, having traveled to Alaska five times with Reba's sister, Gladys, and her husband, James Moran, in their travel trailer. He retired from Bell Helicopter as an engineer in 1990 after 20-plus years of service. Benny was a devoted and active member to the Met Church and loved to study astronomy and was a wonderful carpenter. His family treasures the many pieces of beautiful woodwork and furniture he made. Benny's kind and loving heart will truly be missed. Benny was preceded in death by his father, Price Perry; mother, Lou Ella Roby; sisters, Sheila and D'Alice; brothers, R.B. and Lewis; son, Marvin; and stepson, Chris Olsen. Survivors: Wife, Reba; daughter, Sheila; nephew, Louis; niece, Sharon; stepson and wife, Loyd and Beth Olsen; stepson, Terry Olsen; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Sheba Lee.
