Charles Bartlett Ellis, 84, departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013. Service: 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Interment: Will be in Rice Cemetery in Rice. Visitation: 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Memorials:
. Charles was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Rice, the son of Amos Dunn Ellis and Mattie Mae Bartlett. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War
. A Texas A&M graduate (fightin' Texas Aggies class of 1951), he earned degrees in mechanical engineering and agriculture. Following graduation from A&M, Charles lived a short time in West, moved to Tyler for a few years and then settled in Richland Hills. Charles worked for Lennox Industries for more than 30 years in the research and development group. He married Mary Ellen King on June 3, 1955, in Waco; she preceded him in death. Charles was an active member of Wesley Evangelical Methodist and Richland Hills Baptist Church. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a smile on his face and loved to tell stories. Survivors: Children, David William Ellis and wife, Ginger, of Houston and Nancy Ellis Fry and husband, Jay, of Colleyville; grandchildren, Whitney Ellis Fraser and husband, Matt, of Austin, Katie and Stephanie Ellis; Justin and David Fry; great-grandchild, Ellis Anne Fraser; cousins, Corinne Harper Patrick of Arlington and Roger Patrick and wife, Donna Kaye, of Colleyville.
