Charles Robert Miller Sr. passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014. Service: He will be remembered at a private family memorial service. Memorials: Gifts may be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org
. Charles was born Jan. 20, 1921, to George and Anna Miller in Rockport, Ind., and graduated from Chrisney High School in 1939. He joined the Army
Air Corps in 1942 and served as a pilot in World War II
and the Korean War
. He then joined the U.S. Air Force
Reserves and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1981. He worked for the FFA until his retirement in 1984 as chief flight inspector. After retiring, he loved touring the U.S. in his motor home with his wife, Mary, playing senior softball and volleyball, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Evelyn; an infant daughter; brothers, William, Cecil and Emerson Miller; and sisters, Lelia Mae Brown and Lorene Deason. Survivors: Son, Charles R. "Bob" Miller Jr. and wife, Sandy; daughters, Barbara Miller Jackson and husband, Joe, and Melinda Miller Reppond and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Charlie and Chris Miller, Julie, Joseph and Jennifer Jackson, and Rachel Reppond; great-grandchildren, Kelci, Kenzi, Christopher, Brooklyn, Benjamin and Jacob; and many nieces and nephews.
