Curtis H. Allred, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 at his home in Temple. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Judy Gotcher officiating. Interment: private. Memorials: May be made to one's favorite charity. Mr. Allred was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Fort Worth to H.A. and Effie Bogart Allred. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corps
and was an engineer supervisor with Hercules Inc. in McGregor from 1960 until his retirement in 1993. Curtis married Maria Corazon Mahinay on July 1, 1991, in the Philippines. Curtis was an avid fisherman, hunter, mechanic, boater and gun collector. He was a member of two bowling leagues, the Silver Strikers and Primetimers at Hallmark Lanes in Killeen and Action World in Temple. Survivors: His wife, Cora Allred of Temple; daughter, Cheryl Payne of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Bret Curry and Lauren Gonzales; seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Tommy Payne of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.
