Don Wayne Boston, 85, peacefully joined his Savior, Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: was Thursday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Don was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Fort Worth to Travis and Veda Boston. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1945. After serving in the U.S. Army
during World War II
, he graduated from Texas A&M and earned his M.D. from Southwestern Medical School. In his medical practice, Don cared for the citizens of south Fort Worth until his retirement in 1990. He served as physician for Christ's Haven Home for Children and as a medical administrator for the TCJC system and for FWISD. In 1993, Don was recognized as a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practitioners. He was named the Family Practitioner Emeritus for the State of Texas in 2000 and Humanitarian of the Year by The Tarrant County Medical Society in 2001. Don and his wife, Mary Lee, worked for God many years, focusing on at-risk youth. Don served several churches as a youth minister. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Travis and Charlie Boston; and his great-grandson, Noah Tolleson. Survivors: The love of his life and wife of 63 years, Mary Lee Boston; his children and their spouses, David and Patricia Boston, Larry and Debbie Boston, and Laura and Allen Shoulders; his brother, Jack Boston and wife, Terry; his sister-in-law, Bette Boston; his grandchildren and spouses, Craig and Kristie Boston, Anna Lee and Shane Tolleson, Erin and Mark Anthony, Taylor Boston, and Ryan Shoulders; and his great-granddaughter, Zoey Tolleson.
