Donald "Don" Alan Hilts, 83, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014. Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Lutheran Church, 4325 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington. Friends and Relatives are welcome to a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Arlington Chapel. Don was born April 7, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y. Don grew up in North Tonawanda, N.Y., he graduated from Parks Aeronautical college in St. Louis. He served two years in the Air Force and then moved to Arlington, where began a 37-year engineering career with Vought Aircraft. He married Joy Kathryn Cermin on Oct. 4, 1952. They were happily married for 61 years. In his free time Don spent many hours devoted to his church, volunteering at Arlington Charities and helping restore aircraft with other Vought retirees. He enjoyed gardening, photography and old aircraft. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three sisters. Survivors: His wife, Joy Cermin Hilts; sons, Rob Hilts of Carrollton and Mark Hilts of Fredericksburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Joshua Hilts, Christina Hilts Meadows, Andrew Hilts, Kathryn Hilts Story; brother, Harold of Silvercreek, N.Y.; three great-granddaughters; four nieces; three nephews; and beloved family members and friends.
