of North Central Texas Chapter. E.H. "Barney" Barnett was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Cleburne to Marvin "Bill" and Vera Dameron Barnett. He served in the U.S. Navy
during the Korean War
aboard the USS Badoeing Strait aircraft carrier and as a crew chief on planes that towed the targets for target practice off the naval air station in San Diego, Calif. When he left the service in 1952, he met and married Diane Shipps, a union that lasted over 60 years. That same year, he went to work as an assembler at Bell Helicopter in Hurst, going on to manage the new product development center and eventually became vice president of operations for Bell Canada. Barney's hobbies were flying and building home projects with Diane. He was a Boy Scout leader and was active in both in community and church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and younger sister, Sonya Shortnacy. Survivors: Wife, Diane Shipps Barnett; daughter, Loretta and husband, Perry, of Grapevine; son, Danny and wife, Marty, of Orange Grove; sister, Evelyn "Billie" Allison; grandchildren, Wendy, Daylon and Colin; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
