Ferdinand Cashio Jr.

Ferdinand Cashio Jr., 68, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, in Fort Worth due to complications from diabetes and renal disease. Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Cathedral in Fort Worth. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: Will begin at 7 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 8 p.m. at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home. Memorials: His memory may be honored with a gift to Catholic Charities Fort Worth or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Born in Baton Rouge, La., Ferd was the son of the late Ferdinand A. and Anna C. Cashio of Shreveport, La. He graduated from Jesuit High School (Loyola College Prep) in Shreveport, and attained degrees from Marion Military Institute in Alabama and University of Southwestern Louisiana (ULL) in Lafayette, where he was a member of SAE Fraternity. After graduation, he served four years in the United States Air Force, mostly in the Panama Canal Zone, in communications and received an honorable discharge. Ferd began his career in hotel management and subsequently managed hotels throughout the southern United States. For the past 12 years, he resided in Fort Worth. Ferd was known to all as a kind and generous person, who found great joy in his great-nephew, Ben. He will be deeply missed. Survivors: Twin sister, Kathleen Cashio Clemens of Fort Worth; brothers, Charles R. Cashio and wife, Shirley, and Thomas F. Cashio of Shreveport, La.; nephew, Josh Cashio of Shreveport; niece, Lindsay Evans and husband, Andy; great-nephew, Ben Evans of Plano; aunts; numerous cousins; and extended family.
