Gene R. "Grampy" Estep, 88, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2013, with his family by his side. Memorial service: 11 a.m. Monday at Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing, Mich. Visitation: Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home as well as 10 to 11 a.m. Monday prior to the service. Gene was born May 19, 1924, in Independence, Kan. He served over three years as a veteran of World War II
in the United States Navy
. He graduated from the University of Tulsa then worked for American Airlines for 20 years. He then worked for LTV as a computer analyst until his retirement. Gene was a past Exalted Ruler for the Tulsa, Okla,. Elks Lodge
, and the Arlington Elks Lodge 2114. He was proud of the organization and his involvement as a lifelong member of the Elks. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Gene was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be especially remembered for his humor, loving nature, and kindness. He was predeceased by his wife of 28 years, Anna M. Estep; son, Oren R. Estep; and grandsons, Mike C. King and Bryan F. King. Survivors: Those left to remember him are his children and their spouses, Debbie Estep of Arlington, Larry Estep (Jeanne) of Norfolk, Va., Gary King (MaryEllen) of Arlington and Kathy Savage (Jim) of Loveland, Ohio. Grampy was so proud and blessed with nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, who adored him as well.
