George William Brown Jr., 89, of Rocklin, Calif., entered into rest Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in Roseville, Calif. Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Saturday at Covenant Church in Rocklin, Calif. Private graveside service: Rocklin Cemetery in Rocklin. George was born Tuesday, Sept. 23, 1923, in Boyd, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II
, where he served four years in the European theater. He was a Free Mason of Mesa Lodge #55, as well as a deacon at First Christian Church in Grand Junction, Colo. He graduated from North Side High School and Texas Christian University, class of 1950. He was also a five-year pro football player in the AFC, NFL and CFL. George was very proud to be a Texan. He was also proud to be a TCU Frog Alumni, co-captain of the football team and the president of the "T" Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eula Jackson Brown; one brother; and one sister. Survivors: He was the beloved husband of Jeni Brown for 61 years; devoted father of Darcy Goodwin (Jim) and Betsy Ennis (Dave); and loving grandfather of Grant Ennis, Genevieve Ennis, Taylor Goodwin and Andie Goodwin. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Ron Johnson of Navato, Calif.
