Guy Scott "Scotty" Benedict passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, in Grapevine. Celebration of life: 3 p.m. Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Visitation: noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Guy was bornn March 18, 1929, to A.G and Mable Benedict in Fort Worth. He graduated from Trimble Tech in 1947 and served on the front lines in the United States Army during the Korean War
as a radio tech communicator. Guy was very influential in Grapevine history. He served on the Grapevine City Council for eight years and helped negotiate Dallas-Fort Worth Airport coming to the area in the 1960s. He also served on the building committee for First United Methodist Church of Grapevine and was there for the 1966 May dedication. In 1982, Guy retired from G.M. Chevrolet Motor Division after 30 years of dedicated service. Survivors: His wife of 60 years, Lujean Starr; daughters, Julean Benedict, Tracie Brooks and husband, Steve, and Tammy Swengle and her husband, Craig; grandsons, James and his wife, Elizabeth, Brandon and his wife, Stacy, Ethan and Jared and his wife, Tristen; granddaughter, Nicole; great-grandson, Casche; sister, Barbara McPherson; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
