Ray earned a degree in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M, class of 1947. His love of airplanes led him to join the Navy where he was in pilot training when World War II ended. His career took him to many parts of the country. The highlight of his career was when he worked on the Skylab program for NASA in New Orleans. He finished out his career as a civil engineer for the Defense Contract Administration in Dallas. Ray, his beloved wife, Doris, and their two young children moved to Arlington in 1970. He was a deacon and served on several committees throughout the years. Upon his retirement, he began volunteering the next day at Mission Arlington doing data entry. He was a longtime member of the Gideons International and Sundown and Noon Kiwanis clubs. He enjoyed volunteering in these worthy causes until his health prevented him. He loved golf, bowling and watching sports. He was a big Aggie and Texas Rangers fan. Ray was a loving husband and father. He was a sweet, caring and godly man, a good and faithful servant, whose family loved him dearly. He had integrity and character and lived his life through example.
