Ida Maude Smith, 94, a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Ida was an elementary teacher for over 30 years, retiring from the Birdville Independent School District. She was a graduate of Louisiana State University
and member of North Richland Hills Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She had a special talent for organizing and planning parties and events. She wrote poetry, short stories, was into genealogy, and loved spending time with her family. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, John Hugh Smith; brother, Arthur Nicholas Smitham; and sister, Jean Garland Brown. Survivors: Daughters, Jean Yarborough and Lynn Lemings; grandchildren, Vicki and Matt Fitzgerald, Charla and John Blizzard, Donna and Ashley Yablon, Tara Lemings and Skyler Lemings; great-grandchildren, Blake, Brady and Brooks Blizzard; and numerous loving nieces and nephews in Texas.
