James Guthrie, 67, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013. Celebration of life: Will be held at a later date. Jim was born Sept. 8, 1945, in Ukiah, Calif., to Wayne and Claudia Guthrie. He moved to Springtown when he was 18 and went to college in Denton and Weatherford. Jim was a hard-working man who owned and operated Guthrie Small Engine Repair in Springtown for over 30 years. He built race car engines and, like his dad, raced cars most of his life. Jim was a past master and member of River Oaks Masonic Lodge. He was a good and loyal friend. Survivors: Daughter, Maggie Thompson; son, Jimi Guthrie and family; brother, Larry Guthrie and family; sister, Lorna Edmonds and family; grandchildren, Trey and Kelan; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; longtime girlfriend, Karon Casey; and many good friends.
