John E. Lutz III, 81, passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at a care facility in Euless. . John was born June 4, 1932, in Vernon to John Edward Jr. and Juanita Mercer Lutz, both deceased. He was a first lieutenant in the United States Army
as well as a veteran of the Korean War
. John was a world traveler and an artist by nature, having his works displayed in the foyer of the Western Hills Inn in 1963. He was a third-generation owner and operator of a successful real estate business, Lutz Realty Co. Most importantly, John E. Lutz III was a Master Mason with Cooke-Peavy Lodge #1162 as well as an endowed member and 33rd-degree Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Fort Worth. Brother Lutz's numerous Masonic affiliations included Texas Lodge of Research, Knights Templar of Texas, the National Sojourners and the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas, to name only a few. John was also a member and former president of the Rotary Club
of North Hills, Texas, USA. He served as the Rotary district governor (#5790) in 1990-91 attending the Rotary International Conventions in Portland, Ore., in 1990 and in Mexico City, Mexico, in 1991. He was a true renaissance man, who delved deeply into many avenues of art, philosophy and philanthropy for the betterment of society and his fellow brothers and sisters. Though he shall be missed by his loved ones, his incredible care and tenderness continues to touch the lives of his family and friends. Survivors: His sisters, Mary Virginia Kahn of Prairie Village, Kan., and Myra Lynn Akins of Fort Worth; nephews, Eric Kahn of Miami, Fla., Wiley Akins (Catherine) of Austin and Mark Akins of Austin; niece, Candice Kahn of Prairie Village, Kan.; one great-nephew, Chaney Akins of Saginaw (nephew, Bart Akins, deceased). He is also survived by his special friend and longtime companion of 28 years, Lynn Mills; her daughters, Deidra Mills Ryan (Kyle), Pamela Lawrence (David) and Cheryl Mills Knight (Paxton); and four grandchildren, who affectionately called him Papa John.
