John Robertson, 82, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, in Bedford. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Hurst. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkinson Support Group of Tarrant County, P.O. Box 939, Hurst, Texas 76053. He was born Aug. 12, 1931, in Copan, Okla., to Lionel and Flossie Robertson. After graduation from Broken Bow High School, he attended the University of Tulsa where he received his B.A. in physics and later a B.A. in geology from UTA. He served in the Air Force where he flew F-86 aircraft, later working at Bell Helicopter and the FAA. John was of Cherokee Indian heritage and a member of the Quiet Birdman. John was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hurst and served as a greeter. He loved all of his family and friends with a passion. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Joe Barnard; sister, June Latting; and brothers, Billy and James Robertson. Survivors: Wife, Helen; sons, John Robertson Jr. and wife, Nancy, Donald Robertson and wife, Sheila; daughters, Teresa Elliott and husband, David, Lura Johnson and husband, Brent; stepsons, Alan Hill and wife, Era, and Paul Hill; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a multitude of nephews and nieces.
