John Wilburn Davidson, 90, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, in Greenwood Chapel. John was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Vivian to Lura Mae Beatty and Richard L. Davidson. He served in World War II
in the Army Air Corps then later joined the Navy Reserve continuing to serve his country for 32 years. Later John attended Oklahoma A&M and Abilene Christian College studying electrical engineering, which lead him to his 37-year career with S.W. Bell Telephone Co. retiring in '82. July 12, 1960, during a sweet lunch time rendezvous at the Justice of the Peace in Hamilton, Texas, he married the love of his life, forever friend and soul mate, Edna O. Scott. They were just days shy of their 53rd wedding anniversary; Edna had tamed the stern military man into a gentle giant who was always sure to document gatherings with camera shots of family and friends. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten. John was preceded in death by his mother, Lura M. Davidson; father, R.L. Davidson; two brothers; three sisters; and one son, Charles Robert Davidson. Survivors: Those who are amongst the most saddened by his departure are wife, Edna O. Davidson; son, I. Wayne Davidson and wife, Shelly; stepson, Jack Robertson; daughter-in-law, Sue Davidson; daughters, Luanne Gaisthia and Karen Marshall; brothers, Cecil Davidson and Mark Davidson and wife, Karen; along with five grandchildren; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
