Julius Adrian Henderson Jr., 91, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel at First Presbyterian Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consideration a donation to assist in Alzheimer's research. Adrian was born Aug. 28, 1922, in Taylor, son of the late Stella Pumphrey and Julius Adrian Henderson Sr. He graduated from Taylor High School with Jayne Fitts, his high school sweetheart whom he later married. He entered the University of Texas
but his studies were delayed by World War II
, in which he served in the U.S. Army
Air Force. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to college and graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics. After graduation, he was employed by the FHA for over 30 years and rose to the position of regional director of the FHA in Fort Worth. The office transferred to Dallas and he became the assistant director of HUD in Dallas, the position from which he retired. Adrian enjoyed a long retirement and spending time with his family and extended family and became very active in First Presbyterian Church, where he was a member for nearly 60 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Jayne Fitts Henderson, and brother, John Duncan Henderson. Survivors: Daughter, Linda Henderson; son, John Robert Henderson and wife, Reva; grandson, Michael Robert Henderson and wife, Karen; granddaughters, Neva Lynne Henderson and Reva Anne Henderson; great-grandson, Jones Robert Henderson; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
