Kenneth C. "Buck" Heald Jr., 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Lakewood, Colo., on Sept. 21, 2013. Service: He has been laid to rest next to his wife in a private ceremony in Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, Colo. Memorials: Buck believed in the importance of helping others in need and giving back to the community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to Meals on Wheels. He was not a client, but believed in helping others in need. Meals on Wheels provides home-delivered meals, case management and other items and services to the elderly and disabled homebound residents in the Tarrant County area. . Buck was born to the late Kenneth C. Heald Sr. and Mary D. Heald on Sept. 7, 1923, in Washington, D.C. He served in the United States Navy
in World War II
and graduated from Colorado School of Mines in 1947. He was a petroleum engineer and mining consultant. He lived in Fort Worth for 50 years and moved to Colorado in 2011. Buck was a storyteller with an infectious sense of humor. Every day he had one goal: to make a perfect stranger laugh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jesse "Joanne"; sister, Mary Katherine "Quita"; and son, Kenneth Conrad III "Casey." Survivors: Sons, Jeffrey "Jeff" and his husband, Michael Zerbach, Charles "Alan" and his wife, Mary Gilkison, and William "Bill" and his wife, Danielle Rigby; granddaughter, Jennifer; and numerous other loving family and friends.
