Leo Keating, 87, of Burleson passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014. Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Leo Keating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services, Box 4072, Pittsfield, Mass. 01202. Leo was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Panola County to Jim Richard and Emma Odessa Burks Keating. Leo was a longtime Burleson area resident, and spent time working on the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (Katy) Railroad. He retired from the Burleson Independent School District and was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church. Leo was a special dad and granddad whose family time was very important to him. He loved to garden and excelled in woodworking. He was predeceased by his wife, Oleta McClure Keating; two sisters; and three brothers. Survivors: Sons, Mitchell Keating and wife, Donna, of Burleson, Jerry Keating and wife, Mary Lou, of Alvarado and Gary Steven Keating and wife, Jamie, of Alvarado; daughters, Paula Smith and husband, James, of Burleson and Ruth Keating and husband, Barry Allen, of Burleson; grandchildren, Jim Mitchell Keating, James Smith Jr., Julie Benton, Blake Keating, Zack Thompson and Jake Keating; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters; and many other loving relatives and friends.
