Lester Harold McPeak, 92, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013. Memorial service: 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Gambrell Street Baptist Church, Chaplain Col. Lindell Anderson, Dr. Clyde Glazner and retired Brig. Gen. Jim Spivey officiating. Memorials: Mr. McPeak and his family would prefer, should you desire, that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his name to the building fund at Gambrell Street Baptist Church or your chosen charity. Harold was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Shawnee, Okla. He served in the Army
Air Corps during World War II
receiving the Legion of Merit. At the end of the war he returned home and married Wylodine Owen. They had a happy and successful marriage of 66 years. They have two children, a son and a daughter. Harold made a Christian home for his family and was active in ministry his entire life. He earned a BA from Oklahoma Baptist University and an MD from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and was an ordained minister. Harold McPeak passed away peacefully Nov. 16, 2013, and was welcomed into the arms of God with a "Well done, thy good and faithful servant." He always had candy in his pocket to share and was a blessing to all who met him no matter how briefly. He was a truly humble man with a wonderful sense of humor and a story for every occasion. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have met him. He is the last survivor of his family, having been preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and two sisters. Survivors: Son, Dennis McPeak and wife, Cheryl, of Benbrook; daughter, Cindy and Jere Cox of Granbury; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
