Mary Clare Tuohy, 89, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet. Mary Clare Tuohy was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Fort Worth to James Thomas Tuohy and Florence Horan Tuohy. A longtime resident of Fort Worth, Mary Clare retired to the Texas Hill Country 25 years ago, after a clerical career that allowed her to enjoy friends and adventures from Texas, California, and across America. Wherever she lived she engaged in community theater activities, playing many roles on stage and behind the scenes. When needed, she returned home to Fort Worth to care for her mother until her passing. During her own retirement, Mary Clare enjoyed the beauty of the Hill Country, sharing her faith, caring for many cats, and theater activities around New Braunfels and in San Antonio. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert James and John Dermod. Survivors: Three nieces; three nephews; six grandnephews; two grandnieces; one great-grandniece; four great-grandnephews; and her most dedicated and loving caregiver, Rosemary Rios.
