Melanie Kay Sparks passed away Friday, March 21, 2014, in Dallas. Celebration of life: 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel in Colleyville. Melanie was born May 23, 1948, in Tokyo, Japan, to James and Louise Edwards. She was a graduate of L.D. Bell High School in Hurst and attended Tarrant County Junior College. Melanie enjoyed fishing; she was a member of Bass 'n' Gal and placed ninth in the nation in the 1982 classic tournament. She was also named "Rookie of the Year." Melanie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors: Her loving husband of 46 years, Garry Sparks; son, Garry Sparks Jr. of Bedford; grandchildren, Camron Sparks of Corsicana, Courtney Sparks of Corsicana, Meredith Sparks of Bedford and Michael Sparks of Bedford; sisters, Dinah Kohler and her husband, Paul, of Euless and Pamela Green and her husband, Larry, of Coldspring; brother, James V. Edwards Jr. and his wife, Adriana, of Arlington, Va.; three nieces; three nephews; and numerous other family members and friends.
