Michael Wallace Miller passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at the age of 62. Service: Per Michael's wishes, no memorial service will take place. A limited come-and-go reception to celebrate Michael's life and share memories of him will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at the home of his daughter. . Michael was born in Albuquerque, N.M., on Oct. 26, 1950. He enjoyed scouting throughout his childhood and adolescence, and achieved the coveted rank of Eagle Scout. After graduating from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, Michael attended Technical Vocational Institute. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps
Reserve during the Vietnam War
, serving in a reserve reconnaissance unit. Michael was well-respected in his field during his long career as computer programmer and successful business owner. Throughout his life, he enjoyed good movies, good music, good food and good company. He was an amazing, kind, hardworking man who loved to spread knowledge and laughter wherever he went. Michael's devotion to his family was evident in everything he did. He will be very dearly missed. Survivors: His beloved wife of 38 years, Janet Miller of Bedford; his mother, Helen Miller of Bedford; his daughter, Michelle York; son-in-law, Chris York; and grandson, Christopher York Jr. of Roanoke.
