. Janet Earl was born in Normangee on Jan. 14, 1931. She was the first child of Bertha May and Ernest Milton Ethridge. Janet married James George Earl on May 16, 1948, after just two weeks of dating. They were married for 55 years and had two daughters, Linda and Becky. After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, Janet became a devoted fifth-grade teacher
and taught school for 27 years. She spent several years living in Kerens and Alto before calling Hurst home, where she lived for almost 50 years. Janet will forever be remembered as a compassionate animal lover who enjoyed devoting much of her time and energy to caring for homeless animals. She was an avid traveler who traveled the world with family and friends, embracing other people and cultures. Another passion of hers was genealogy and tracing her family tree. She never met someone that did not become a dear friend. She really was one of the nicest people you knew and loved spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest qualities were her compassion and love for everyone and everything. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last few months. Janet's husband and parents preceded her in death. Survivors: Her daughters, Becky Kleepbua and Linda Marzouki and her husband, Jim; brother, Jimmy Ethridge and his wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Nabil, Holly, Erin and Nikolos; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Zara; furry children, Tita, George and Ikey; and other loving relatives.
