Orbie K. Thomas, 66, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his home in Fort Worth after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Service: 11:30 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood. Orbie was born Oct. 12, 1947, in Fort Worth to Charlie and Leta Mae "Pauna" Thomas. Orbie grew up in White Settlement, with his best and lifelong friend, Jack Robb. He graduated from Brewer High School in 1966. Orbie married Sharon McBride on Nov. 25, 1970, and were happily married for 44 years. Once they were married, Orbie was deployed to Germany and they lived in Germany while Orbie served in the United States Army. Orbie worked 32 years for SPM in White Settlement and retired in 2011. Orbie was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Leta Mae "Pauna" Thomas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bailey and Erah Mae McBride; nephew, Robert "Bubba" Jones; sister-in-law, Glenda Jane Laning; brother-in-law, Edward Cornelius; and sister-in-law, Brenda McBride. Survivors: Wife, Sharon Thomas; son, Orbie Kenneth "Kenny" "Snooker" Thomas Jr. and wife, Lisa, of California; daughter, Adrienne Thomas; grandchildren, Eli, Kylie and Madison Thomas of California; sister, Paula Ferne Thomas; brother, Charles Thomas; several aunts and uncles; brother-in-law, Frank Laning; sister-in-law, Pauline Burnett and husband, Doug; sister-in-law, Annette Cornelius; brother-in-law, Mickey McBride; seven nieces; four nephews; 12 great-nieces; nine great-nephews; three great-great-nieces; two great-great-nephews with one on the way; and numerous other relatives.
