Philip Edward Fairhead, 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Memorial service: 4 p.m. Monday at St. Philip's Presbyterian Church, Hurst. Phil was born Jan. 13, 1923, in New York City to the late Frank and Louise Fairhead. Phil served in the Navy on the USS New Mexico in World War II
. He worked as an accountant and comptroller for a major company in New York City. He retired and opened up a liquor store in Cooperstown, N.Y. Phil was an active member of Levittown Presbyterian Church and served as deacon, elder and treasurer. He sang professionally in several cathedrals in New York, including St. Patrick's. Since he relocated to Texas in 1989 he has been a member of St. Philip's Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. He was a member of the SL Community band and played the clarinet and saxophone. Phil loved to swim, walk, play volleyball, read and do crossword puzzles. He was preceded in death by his best friend and wife of 68 years, Jean Fairhead. They are together again.
