Rose Mary Cordes Marcellus, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home after a brief battle with cancer Wednesday afternoon, May 8, 2013. Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family of Nazareth Catholic Church in Irving. A rosary will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home in Irving. Rose Mary was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Leon, Iowa, to Charles H. Cordes and Wynne Catherine Cash Cordes. She was a resident of Irving for the last 65 years. She was a member of the St. Luke's Altar Guild, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and her Ladies' Bridge Club. She retired in 1998 from the University of Dallas, where she worked for 12 years. Her hobbies included sewing, reading, sightseeing, bird watching and watching her beloved Texas Rangers baseball. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Anthony Marcellus, and her son, John Paul Marcellus.
