Roy H. "Bill" Acrea Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Bedford. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, in Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow, Okla. Visitation: noon to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Acrea was born in Okmulgee, Okla., on July 22, 1917, to Roy H. Acrea Sr. and Mary Salisbury Acrea. He was married to Dora Marie Ollie on April 25, 1942, in San Diego, Calif. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy
where he attained the rank of chief petty officer. He was also a veteran of the Pearl Harbor attack on Dec. 7, 1941 and received the 50th Year Commemorative Medal in 1991. He retired in 1980 from American Airlines in Tulsa, Okla., after 25 years as an airframe and powerplant mechanic. He had lived in Bedford for 14 years at Parkwood Retirement/Health Care Community. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Dora "Sheenie" Marie Acrea. Survivors: Son, Roy L. Acrea and his wife, Treese; three granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren.
