Roy Wayne Savage, 86, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday in Dawson Cemetery, Dawson. Roy was born July 1, 1927, in Kerens to Karl and Florence Savage. He graduated from Chico High School. He served in the Army
in the Korean War
. Roy was an avid horseperson, traveling the country and rodeoing. Roping was his true passion. He was a horse trainer and showman and eventually became a judge for the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. Roy judged shows all over the world. After retiring his new passion became traveling with his wife, Alene, in their RV, telling stories of his rodeo days and enjoying visits from family and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, K.O. Savage, Art Savage, James Savage and Linnie Trumble. Survivors: Loving wife of 25 years and childhood sweetheart, Alene Savage; daughter, Tori Savage of Durant, Okla.; son, Kelly Savage and wife, Peggy, of Durant, Okla.; stepsons, Tony Henson and wife, Cindy, of Weatherford and Tim Henson of Benbrook; and grandchildren, Kyle Savage and wife, Kristen, Kayla Savage, Harley Henson, and Ryan Henson and wife, Holly.
